Tim Vaughn

Blues

Maple Blues Award Nominee, Tim Vaughn is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. His soulful voice and immaculate guitar, bass and keyboard work have been resonating through clubs across Canada for the greater part of a decade; energizing and inspiring fans. With shear musicianship and interactive performance, Vaughn leaves audiences wanting more.

Tim has been busy touring his latest album release “Read Between The Lines” across Canada including several dates with the legendary Johnny Winter sold out shows at Vancouver’s famous Yale Hotel and a sold out opening spot for Theory Of A Deadman.

The Album, produced by Wide Mouth Mason guitarist and front man Shaun Verreault features Tim’s blistering guitar playing and songwriting proficiency in a package that pays homage to his blues upbringing while it’s rock inspired energy brings new ears to the styles Tim holds close to his heart. Recently, Tim released two new tracks, exclusively available online.

The First single “Loaded Gun” is an acoustic guitar driven rock ballad that lends nods to Chris Robinson of the Black Crows while the second track, an instrumental power trio workout pays homage to ZZ Top, Jeff Beck and fellow Saskatchewan guitar superstar Jack Semple. When asked to describe his sound Vaughn says “It’s Like Prince, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix and Radiohead all met Los Lobos at the bar in from Dusk ‘Till Dawn, and Jack White was playing with Elvis Costello.” Big guitar tones, playful yet plaintive vocals, in-your-face drumming and mature songwriting are all things audiences have come to expect from this exciting young artist. Joined by his longtime drummer Bryce Lemky and the beautiful and ferociously talented Lisa Jacobs on bass, “Power Trio” may be an understatement!

“Read Between The Lines” is a blast of blues/rock that I can’t seem to get enough of! There’s an underlying bluesy darkness to the sound that speaks to me. There’s some good time party blues here and things get really dark too on songs like “Thirst”; “Well my skin is cracked and my bones are frail my body’s home but my heart’s in jail.” It really DOES sound like the kind of stuff you’d hear in “From Dusk ‘Til Dawn”. Lots of different moods in these 10 cuts – angry, broken hearted, introspective, sexual and the guy is a pretty good guitar player too. As a singer he reminds me of Nick Gilder in his glory days with Sweeny Todd (maybe not as ‘delicate’) crossed with Colin James.” – Rock Doctor Album Reviews
